The Patient Path to Your Munchkin: How Our Waiting List Works

Munchkin kittens are in high demand, and our priority is making sure they go to the best possible homes. If you are serious about adopting from Southwest Munchkin Cattery, joining our Waiting List is the most reliable way to secure a future kitten.

Step 1: The Application and Deposit

Your journey starts with the [Adoption Application Form]. This allows us to understand your home and lifestyle. Once approved, a $500 deposit is required to officially secure your place on the Waiting List.

  • Priority: Listing members receive priority choice over the general public when a new litter is announced.
  • Preferences: You can specify your preferences (e.g., female, long-hair, specific color), and we will notify you when a kitten matching those traits becomes available.

Step 2: The Wait and Bi-Weekly Updates

Munchkin litters are precious, and wait times can vary depending on Mother Nature and your specific preferences.

When a litter is born, we notify our Waiting List members first. You will receive exclusive “kitten files” every two weeks. These files include updated photos and personality notes, allowing you to watch the kittens grow and begin bonding with them virtually.

Step 3: Selection and Finalizing

Selection typically occurs around 6 to 8 weeks of age, once their individual personalities and physical traits are clearly established.

  • The Choice: We will contact Waitlist members in order of deposit placement to make their selection. You will have a defined time window to choose your kitten.
  • Final Payment: The remainder of the adoption fee is due when the kittens are 10–12 weeks old.
  • Moving the Deposit: If you decide to pass on an available litter (because the kitten wasn’t the right gender or color, for example), your deposit remains securely held and simply rolls over to the next available litter.

The wait is a small investment of time for a lifetime of love!
