⚕️ Health Guarantee and Warranty Policy
This document outlines the health guarantee provided by Southwest Munchkin Cattery to the Adopter for all kittens adopted within the USA. This guarantee is non-transferable.
1. Initial Health Guarantee (72-Hour Period)
We guarantee that your kitten is free of fatal viruses (such as Feline Leukemia, Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP), and Panleukopenia) and severe, life-threatening infectious diseases for 72 hours from the time of pickup/delivery.
- Veterinarian Requirement: The Adopter must have the kitten examined by a licensed, non-emergency veterinarian within this 72-hour period. Failure to do so voids this initial guarantee.
- Procedure: If, during this initial vet check, the kitten is found to have a life-threatening illness, the Adopter must notify the Cattery immediately and provide written documentation (including test results) from the examining veterinarian.
- Exclusions: This guarantee does not cover common issues that can be stress-induced or easily treatable, such as internal/external parasites (e.g., fleas, ear mites, coccidia, giardia), or common respiratory issues treated with antibiotics.
2. Genetic and Congenital Health Warranty
We guarantee the kitten against severe, life-altering, or life-threatening congenital or hereditary defects that were present at birth, for a period of one (1) year from the kitten’s date of birth.
- Covered Defects: This warranty specifically covers conditions that render the kitten unsuitable as a companion pet, which may include severe, untreatable heart defects, kidney disease (PKD), or liver failure.
- Claim Procedure: Should a defect covered under this warranty be discovered, the Adopter must provide two separate, written veterinary statements (including full diagnostic reports and necropsy, if applicable) from licensed veterinarians confirming the condition.
3. Remedy and Replacement Policy
If a kitten is confirmed to have a defect or illness covered under this guarantee, the Adopter will be offered one of the following remedies:
- Replacement: The Cattery will provide a replacement kitten of equal quality from the next available litter. No cash refunds will be provided.
- Required Return: The affected kitten and all registration paperwork must be returned to the Cattery before a replacement can be arranged.
4. Adopter Responsibilities (Voiding the Guarantee)
This Health Guarantee will be immediately voided if any of the following occur:
- Failure to have the kitten examined by a licensed veterinarian within the first 72 hours of adoption.
- Failure to provide necessary annual vaccinations or preventative vet care.
- Allowing the kitten to be housed or roam outdoors.
- Failure to provide proof of spay or neuter within the timeframe agreed upon in the separate Adoption Contract.
